Lois Joan Howerton Euton passed away on Dec. 21, 2023, at the Community Hospice House in Portsmouth, Oh., due to organ failure, following a prolonged battle with dementia. Lois was born on Nov. 14, 1931, in Fullerton, Ky., to Augustus and Hellen Howerton, one of 11 children. She married John V. Euton of Beattyville, Ky., on Aug. 8, 1953, and the couple raised two children, J. Aaron (Sherry) Euton of Franklin Furnace, Oh., and Jenny (Bryan) Timberlake of South Shore, Ky.

Though her medical issues prevented her from participating in many of the activities she loved over the last decade, during her life Lois enjoyed writing, decorating and antiquing. She was a devoted mother and reveled in her role as a grandmother, never missing a birthday, school performance, or tea party.

In addition to her parents and siblings, Lois was preceded in death by her daughter Jenny Timberlake and granddaughter Cassie Black. She is survived by her husband John (Vinson) Euton, son J. Aaron (Sherry) Euton, granddaughters Sara Timberlake, Stacy (Adam) Black and great-grandchildren Jharon, Leo, Jenny, and Aubrey Black.

Lois expressed that she did not want a funeral service but wished to be cremated and returned to her childhood home on Flathollow, Ky. Her family is honoring her wishes and celebrating her privately. If you would like to celebrate her life, leave an extra good tip at your favorite restaurant. Lois loved dining out and especially treating the restaurant staff generously.
