Karolyn Shepherd Ketter

Karolyn Shepherd Ketter, 93 years of age, former Portsmouth resident, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2021 in Waterloo, Iowa.

Karolyn, daughter of the late Dorothy Williams and Jared Rice Shepherd, graduated from Portsmouth High in 1946 and attended Ohio University. She worked at Martings until her marriage to John F. Ketter, on April 7,1951. They were married 61 years, before he passed away on April 29, 2012.

She was the CEO of the Ketter household and volunteer in many organizations.

President of UMW, She started the Meals on Wheels program in Cedar Falls Iowa, PTA, Satori hospital auxiliary, Hillview retirement home, Women's club, University of Northern Iowa Dames, Church Choirs, Portsmouth Garden Club, Girl Scout Leader, Festival of Sharing and many more. She loved volunteering and meeting the people she got to work with.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, David Shepherd, one daughter, Melissa Walker and one son, Drew Ketter.

She survived by her children, Elizabeth Tinetti (Rob), Elaine Skoog (Bill), John Ketter (Terry), Allison Ketter, Jason Ketter (Nyana), Son in law, Gary Walker, daughter in law, Joanne Ketter and sister in law Janet Shepherd, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, one great grandchild do in May and one special grand dog.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 24th, 2021, at 11:30 AM until time of Funeral Service at 12:30 PM, all at FC Daehler Mortuary, 915 Ninth Street, Portsmouth, Ohio, 45662.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Karolyn's name to any of these organizations: UMW Cornerstone Church, Ohio Association Garden Club Foundation, All Saints Episcopal music fund and Hillview Retirement Home.
