Juwan Simpson, 92 years old, longtime Portsmouth resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 12, 2023.

Juwan and her late husband George Simpson were the former owners of Simpson Brothers Machine Works here in Portsmouth. She enjoyed gardening, feeding the deer and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Mearl (Nee Jewitt) Powell, two brothers and three sisters, and her husband of 52 years when he passed.

She was survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Ama Simpson of Portsmouth, one granddaughter Kelley (Bryant) Frantz of Portsmouth, and one grandson, George Franklin, III, of Bessimer City, North Carolina, two great granddaughters, Karley Jo and Kaylen Grace Frantz also of Portsmouth, six sisters and four brothers.

Private burial at Greenlawn Cemetery being held at the convenience of the family.
