Portsmouth Resident
FC Daehler Mortuary
In loving memory of Joyce L. Drake, a cherished soul who graced this world with her warmth and light. Born on November 15, 1941, in Portsmouth, OH, Joyce peacefully departed this life on July 26, 2024, surrounded by the compassionate care of SOMC Hospice.
Joyce, a radiant spirit, was a 1960 graduate of Glennwood High School. She embraced life's adventures with fervor, indulging in the thrill of bingo and horse races at Scioto Downs and the casinos. She enjoyed crocheting, Pretty Punch embroidery, and her coloring on her IPad in her later years. Most of all, Joyce cherished moments spent with her beloved family and friends, rekindling bonds that would last an eternity.
Joyce's journey was not without loss, as she bid farewell to her beloved husband of 45 years, Franklin Drake, in 2007. She was preceded in death by her son, Jay Drake, and grandson, Steven Arthur, and beloved parents, James and Frances (Nee Brown) Green. Today, we remember her with admiration and love, honoring her legacy.
She leaves behind her loving son Todd Drake of Portsmouth, loving daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Patrick Williams of Stout. Among those who will forever hold her in their hearts are her grandchildren, Tommy Drake of Greenup, KY, Jordan (Jarrod Pearl) Spencer of Clarksville, TN, and Madison (Cole) Stapleton of Sciotoville. Joyce's light continues to shine through her six great-grandchildren, loving sister, Shirley Spears of Portsmouth, nephew, Kevin Spears and niece Kim (Steve) Cutlip, who will continue to carry her legacy forth with grace and honor.
According to Joyce's wishes there will be no services held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SOMC Hospice, where Joyce found comfort and peace during her final days.
As we bid farewell to our dear Joyce, may her spirit soar free, and may the memories of her love provide solace to our grieving hearts. In her passing, we find solace in knowing that she has found eternal peace in the warm embrace of her loved ones who preceded her.
