Jack Wilbur Walter, age 95, longtime resident of Wheelersburg, Ohio, was called to his eternal home on July 19, 2024, from HillView Retirement Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was born June 3, 1929 at Klahr, PA, son of the late Fred and Stella (Nee Claar) Walter.

Jack received his BS degree in Chemistry from Juniata College in 1953, and a Masters degree from University of Pittsburgh in 1959.

He was employed at Mellon Institute of Industrial Research in Pittsburg from 1953 to 1957, at the US Steel Research Center in Monroeville, PA, from 1957 to 1978, and at Aristech Chemical (formerly USS Chemicals) in Haverhill, OH from 1978 to 1992.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of sixty-nine years, Ruth Virginia (Nee Long) Walter, and two devoted sons, Robert of Sommerville, MA and Thomas of Lafayette, IN.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one son, Timothy, a foster sister, Irene (Mickel) Musselman and a brother Ned Walter.

Jack was baptized into the Christian faith November 6, 1938, and was an active participant in the church all his adult life, until age and infirmity took their toll. He urges all who do not know the Savior to come to know Him before it is too late. And he hopes all who do know Jesus will celebrate the new life with him, rather than mourn his death.

Memorial Service will be Friday August 23, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Hillview Retirement Community in the Chapel, 1610 28th Street, Portsmouth, OH 45662.  FC Daehler mortuary caring for the family.
