Gertrude Mae Ridout

Gertrude "Gertie" Mae Ridout, 78, of Portsmouth, Ohio, died July 3, 2021, after a short respiratory illness. Gertie was born May 5, 1943 to Juanita O. Cooper and Charles O. Ridout in Portsmouth, Ohio, who preceded her in death, along with her only sister, Charlotte F. Russell. She was survived by her only daughter, Orvella C. (Ridout) Morgan and three grandchildren, Misty D. Rawlins, Randall L. Rawlins, Shawn R. Rawlins (Kelly Otterbacher), seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, she loved very much. Gertie attended the North Moreland Christian Baptist Church and Glenwood Area Schools and was an avid reader and lover of history. Her joy in later years was watching jeopardy and wheel of fortune. As a former member of The Eagles Fraternal Organization and avid motorcycle rider, she was self-employed throughout her life selling Avon and Home Interior. As a co-owner for Chef Howie's Pizza, her love of life, laughing and walking was always a great topic of conversation, especially her affinity for chasing and falling in love with the "bad boys." In her younger years, her joy came from live music and especially following the rock bands, Def Leppard, Motley Crew and KISS around the country, but loved KISS most of all as commemorated by her KISS chest tattoo. A celebration of life will be conducted at a later date, as determined by the family. The family asks in lieu of gifts or flowers, please donate to the American Alzheimer's Association. (www.act.alz.org) F.C. Daehler will be caring for the family. Please visit www.fcdaehlermortuary.com to share your memories of Gertie or leave condolences for her family.
