Dorothy J Schmidt, a caring and beloved member of the community of Lucasville, passed away on January 23, 2024, at the age of 73. She was born on March 5, 1950, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to her parents Richard Warner and Martha Smith.
Dorothy devoted her life to caring for others, working as a Nurses Aide and Cook/Dietary in the nursing home. Her dedication and compassion brought comfort to many patients throughout the years. Her nurturing spirit positively impacted numerous lives, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Family was at the center of Dorothy's heart, and she treasured the moments spent with her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her father Richard Warner and her husband Melvin Schmidt. Dorothy is survived by her beloved mother Martha Smith, her loving son Scott Schmidt, and his wife Julie Schmidt. She found joy in being a grandmother to her two grandchildren, Brian Freeland and Austin Freeland. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Stella, Aurora, Alice, and Lucas. Dorothy's siblings, Janet Fuller, Margaret Meredith, Emma Dearth, and Judy Warner, shared deep bonds of love and support with her. Although her brothers, Richard Warner and Dudley Warner, have passed away, their memories were cherished.
Dorothy's warm and caring nature extended far beyond her immediate family, as she had a special place in her heart for her many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She spoke of them fondly and embraced every opportunity to make lasting connections with them.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public funeral services held. Dorothy's family will gather privately to honor her memory and celebrate her life.
Dorothy J Schmidt will forever be remembered for her selflessness and genuine love for others. Her legacy of compassion and care will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
