Bethel Lee Spencer Sowards, 86 years, West Portsmouth resident, went home to be with the Lord, Friday December 15th, 2023. Bethel was born May 25th, 1937, in Paintsville, KY to the late Watt and Ida Spencer.

She was preceded in death by her late husband Clarence Sowards, a son Bryan Sowards, a grandson, BJ Sowards, a great grandson, Jacob Dylan Rhea, as well as several brothers and sisters.

Bethel is survived by one son Roy (Tammy) Sowards of Lucasville, one daughter Kellie (Scott) Mauk of West Portsmouth, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Bethel attended Community Bible Church in Lucasville and a resident at Rest Haven Nursing Home.

The family wants to give a special thank you to the staff of Rest Haven for their excellent care of their mother.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 23rd, 2023, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Service immediately following at 1:00 PM, all at

FC Daehler Mortuary, 915 Ninth Street Portsmouth, OH 45662.

Interment in Conley Cemetery, West Portsmouth, OH.

Pastor Joe Nelson and Rick Ratliff will be officiating.
